Gender-Affirming Care Letters
Care that respects who you are and supports where you're going.
Gender-Affirming Care Letters
Accessing gender-affirming care should not come with unnecessary barriers. My goal is to provide supportive, respectful letters that help you move forward with the care that aligns with who you are. Whether you're seeking hormone therapy, surgery, or legal documentation changes, this process is designed to honor your identity and meet the documentation needs of providers and institutions. All letters are written in accordance with current WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) guidelines.
What to Expect
The process typically involves one to two sessions via telehealth. Sessions focus on understanding your gender identity, history, and goals in a space that prioritizes safety, respect, and autonomy.
Services are available to individuals physically located in New Mexico or Texas at the time of the sessions. In most cases, the process can be completed and the letter written within one week.
Why Work With Me
I bring years of experience writing mental health and identity-related letters, and I’ve received specialized training in writing letters for gender-affirming care. I follow current WPATH guidelines and approach each letter with warmth, respect, and cultural humility. As an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, my goal is to make this process feel validating, and not pathologizing.
If your provider, surgeon, or insurance company has specific documentation requirements, I encourage you to check in advance to ensure everything is covered.
What Is a WPATH Letter?
A WPATH letter is a written statement from a qualified provider that supports your access to gender-affirming care, such as hormone therapy, surgery, or legal gender marker changes. These letters follow guidance from the WPATH and are often required by medical providers or insurance companies.
Depending on your needs, the letter may include:
Confirmation of your gender identity and history
A diagnosis such as Gender Dysphoria (used only when necessary for documentation or insurance)
A summary of any past or current gender-affirming treatments
An assessment of your readiness and informed decision-making
While a diagnosis may be included to meet certain medical or insurance requirements, the process always centers on your autonomy, identity, and goals.
